Custom Costume Designs

The Bon Choix Couture label was founded in 1963 by Mariam Barbar. At 14, her eldest son, Jack Berberian, started working as a tailor. His first high profile job was a historic one. Jack with his brother Koko, worked with Michael Jackson as he prepared to perform at the 1983 American Music Awards, helping Jackson to produce the black sequined jacket and single rhinestone encrusted glove that became an international phenomenon. It did not take long for Bon Choix Couture to attract other famous celebrities and personalities such as Sisely Tyson, Quentin Tarantino, Adrienne Barbeau, Rod Stewart, and Sheena Easton. Jack's wife, Tagui Veronica Manoyan, learned the business from its founder, Mariam Barbar. "I am ever so grateful that Mariam took me under her wing and molded me into the costume and dressmaking specialist and designer that I am today." Tagui comes to fashion through a background in technical cybernetics and mathematics, which has given her a unique and dynamic perspective on costume construction. It is this special touch that ensures that each design produced through Bon Choix is a true original. As she puts it, "I enjoy challenges, and particularly enjoy looking for elegant and simple solutions to seemingly complex problems."
